We mentioned earlier today how the Saints blitzed more frequently than any team in the league during the regular season.

Thanks to Marty Callinan of ESPN Stats & Information, we can examine this a little more. Just about all teams tend to blitz more on third downs. That’s even more pronounced with the Saints. On all downs, they’ve blitzed on 49.5 percent of dropbacks by opponents. The Denver Broncos are next on the list at 45.9 percent and several teams aren’t far behind.

On third downs, the Saints have used five or more pass rushers 65.5 percent of the time. The next closest team is the Jets at 55.9 percent and the Eagles (50.9 percent) are the only other team over 50 percent.
