NFL Power Rankings: Panthers pass Bucs

The latest ESPN.com Power Rankings are out and the New Orleans Saints are sitting tight at No. 4.

That comes after an impressive win against Detroit, but Green Bay, Baltimore and San Francisco remain in the spots ahead of the Saints. There’s no question the undefeated Packers belong in the No. 1 spot, but I’m not sure I believe the 49ers and Ravens are any better than the Saints.

The Atlanta Falcons lost to Houston on Sunday, but actually moved up a spot to No. 8. I think the Falcons have the talent of a top-eight team. But, just once, I’d like to see them put it all together.

I think the voters finally got it right on Carolina and Tampa Bay. They finally put the Panthers ahead of the Buccaneers. Carolina is No. 25 and Tampa Bay is No. 26. That came after the Panthers defeated the Bucs on Sunday. Both teams are 4-8, but I think the gap between these two teams is much bigger than that. The Panthers are clearly a team on the rise, while the Bucs seem to be crumbling.
