Brees is league's best out of shotgun

When it comes to passing out of the shotgun formation, New Orleans’ Drew Brees is the best in the league.

Brees has a league-best 127.1 passer rating out of the formation. Eli Manning ranks second at 118.3. Brees has completed 40 of 58 passes (69 percent) out of the shotgun for 540 yards, five touchdowns and no interceptions.

No other NFC South quarterback even ranks in the top 10 in this category. Carolina’s Jake Delhomme is next at No. 12 with a 98.7 rating. Atlanta’s Matt Ryan is No. 17 with an 89.4 rating.

Tampa Bay’s Byron Leftwich has a 63.7 rating and his replacement, Josh Johnson, has a 39.2 rating.
