Checking in on the injuries that matter most

In another sign that injured Tampa Bay receiver Antonio Bryant will probably play Sunday, he participated fully in practice Thursday. He was limited Wednesday. Unless there’s a significant setback, Bryant should be able to go against the Saints.

New Orleans’ injury outlook isn’t very positive. Running back Reggie Bush, cornerback Jabari Greer, cornerback Tracy Porter and receiver Lance Moore did not participate in practice Thursday. I’m guessing Sean Payton will play it safe with most -- or all -- of these guys and rest them against the Bucs. The Saints have a huge game with the Patriots after that one. On the plus side, defensive tackle Sedrick Ellis, who had been out with a knee injury, has participated in practice on a limited basis the past two days. Same for safety Darren Sharper.

Atlanta running back Michael Turner didn’t practice for the second straight day. I know Turner said he’s not giving up hope of playing Sunday, but I don’t think there’s much chance of that. On a positive note, running back Jerious Norwood, who's been out for nearly five weeks with a hip injury, returned to practice.

I’ll be back with a Carolina injury report as soon as we get the inactives for tonight’s game.
