Keeping close eye on Rams' Steven Jackson

ST. LOUIS -- Steven Jackson stayed at the St. Louis Rams' facility later than almost anyone Saturday.

The Pro Bowl running back plans to warm up early Sunday at the Edward Jones Dome in an effort to coax his injured groin into letting him play against Seattle.

My gut feeling, based in part on Jackson's comments earlier in the week, says the Rams will play it safe with Jackson and hold him out of the game. Even if Jackson does play, the groin injury could limit him and prevent him from playing a full game.

That was the case when a strained thigh muscle affected Jackson in 2008 and ultimately prevented him from playing, even though the team thought he would start.

I'll be heading to the Edward Jones Dome early and paying close attention to his activities on the field as Jackson warms up.
