Cardinals make statement before halftime

Go ahead and exhale, Arizona Cardinals fans.

Derek Anderson made it through that critical drive late in the first half without disaster intervening. His respective 30-yard completions to Larry Fitzgerald and rookie Andre Roberts, the latter for a touchdown, have given the Cardinals a 14-10 halftime lead at Minnesota.

Roberts wound his way through the Vikings' defense and into the end zone after taking a short pass over the middle on first-and-10 with 37 seconds left before halftime.

Last week, Anderson had thrown an interception into triple coverage on a first-and-10 play against Tampa Bay when the Cardinals needed their two-minute offense to operate efficiently. Anderson threw one near-pick during the go-ahead drive against the Vikings -- Minnesota had dropped another shot at an interception earlier in the game -- but his passer rating stands at 123.2 going into halftime.

Anderson has completed 10 of 14 passes for 192 yards. Larry Fitzgerald, who caught 11 passes in his only previous game at the Metrodome, has five for 84 yards at halftime.
