ESPN's Mike Tirico, Trent Dilfer, Chris Mortensen and Mel Kiper Jr. turned their attention to the Arizona Cardinals in their latest draft preview.
Among the subjects they discussed:
The impact Kurt Warner's retirement had in exposing weaknesses throughout the roster;
Whether Blaine Gabbert or Von Miller will be available when Arizona picks fifth overall, under the assumption the Cardinals would consider a quarterback that early (and I think it's doubtful this year);
Whether Arizona would be wise to move up from the fifth spot, an idea Dilfer discourages.
At one point, Mortensen pointed to the Cardinals' strong turnout for Gabbert's workout in Missouri as evidence Arizona might want to select him. An important side note: Cardinals brass stopped off at Gabbert's workout on their return flight from the nearby NFL owners meeting, and team president Michael Bidwill was piloting their plane. That was the reason the team's ownership attended that workout, in my view.
