One sentence per NFC West team from my conversation with St. Louis Post-Dispatch columnist Bernie Miklasz on 101ESPN St. Louis:

• On the Arizona Cardinals: "I almost wonder if in the back of their minds they wouldn't mind having those top quarterbacks off the board when they pick, and then it's not an issue."

• On the San Francisco 49ers: "If not the best pass-rusher, is the best cornerback there, and then you make the decision accordingly."

• On the St. Louis Rams: "I certainly trust Steve Spagnuolo's judgment on defensive linemen better than some of the other guys they've had making those decision in the Rams' building."

• On the Seattle Seahawks: "Now is the year when they roll up their sleeves and acknowledge there is a ton of work to be done and it may not be glitzly and pretty, but they have to improve on the lines."
