The Arizona Cardinals' ground game took a hit in 2010 when fullback Nehemiah Broughton suffered a torn anterior-cruciate ligament during the exhibition season.
The team gave itself a prospect at the position Saturday by selecting Connecticut's Anthony Sherman in the fifth round. The team has addressed needs in the last three rounds -- tight end Rob Housler in the third, outside linebacker Sam Acho in the fourth, Sherman in the fifth -- after selecting a cornerback and running back with their first two picks.
Sherman projects as a contributor on special teams in addition to whatever skills he brings as a blocker in the ground game. He also gets high marks from scouts for intangibles, a theme for Arizona in this draft so far.
The players Arizona has selected so far project as hard-working, competitive types. The Cardinals can use help in that area while trying to rebound from a 5-11 season.
