About one month ago, Jameson wrote from Kandahar, Afghanistan with a request for the latest 27-column "roided-out" NFC West rosters.
Unfortunately, I hadn't been able to keep pace with roster changes throughout the NFL. I've finally caught up, getting up to date this morning, and can pass along a link to download the latest ones.
Jameson, sensing that the Seattle Seahawks and San Francisco 49ers added considerable speed this offseason, also suggested I add a column for 40-yard times. This is a great idea, and something I expect to do as the offseason progresses.
In the meantime, I've updated most (but not all) of the contract expiration dates. I've made a few projections for starting lineups, giving Matt Flynn and Kevin Kolb the edge in their quarterback competitions.
A few other starting spots remain in question, particularly along the offensive lines. With all due respect to the process, I've made Bobby Massie the projected starting right tackle for Arizona. Alex Boone is the projected starting right guard for San Francisco. Quinn Ojinnaka was my early guess at left guard for St. Louis. John Moffitt and Paul McQuistan are penciled into the guard spots for Seattle (emphasis on the pencil part, as I suspect Deuce Lutui will factor into the mix somewhere).
The chart breaks down roster counts by position. Back in a bit with additional roster-related breakdowns.
Note: I've considered abandoning the "roided-out" label because a handful of people inevitably think I'm referring to actual steroids (the title stems from the rosters' unnatural mass). For now, though, the title lives.
