Rapid Reaction: Saints 48, Giants 27

NEW ORLEANS -- It was supposed to be a massive battle of undefeateds. It turned out to be more like one of those early-season college games where some dominant program plays a small school from outside the conference and puts up ridiculous numbers.

That’s what the Saints did Sunday. But the difference is they did it against the New York Giants. You remember them? The team that was supposed to be the best in the NFC, maybe even in the entire NFL.

The Giants can’t claim either of those titles now. The Saints might be able to claim both.

I don’t usually tip my hand about what I’m going to write in my postgame column, but I’m going to make an exception on this one. I’m going to write that the Saints are the best team in the NFL right now.

I’m going down to the locker room to get some quotes for that column. But I don’t need much. The Saints just spent the last three hours writing that story. I’ll be back in a bit.
