GLENDALE, Ariz. -- Bruce Arians didn’t want to answer the question.
Actually, the Arizona Cardinals' coach didn’t want to even be asked about the officials from Saturday night’s preseason game against San Diego.
“Don’t ask me about officials,” Arians said, when prodded about the experimental eight-person officiating crews. “Please. That’s why I’m hoarse.”
Arians wasn’t pleased with a few of the penalties his team incurred -- partially because of how they were obtained and partially because of how they were handed out. In the fourth quarter, Arians was visibly upset that a pass interference penalty wasn’t called on a deep pass to Jaxon Shipley. Arians took off his hat and his headset and strongly paced the sideline while chewing out the officials.
“We need to re-learn the rules that they changed two years ago,” Arians said. “This crew might need eight preseason games to get ready.”
