MINNEAPOLIS -- Minnesota Vikings cornerback Xavier Rhodes drew a fine for his horse collar tackle of Denver Broncos wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders -- one of three penalties Rhodes committed in the Vikings' loss on Sunday.
A league spokesperson said Rhodes was fined $17,363 for the play, which put the Broncos on the Vikings' 3 on their first drive of the third quarter. The drive ended with Peyton Manning hitting Owen Daniels for a 1-yard touchdown on fourth down.
Rhodes is one of four players tied for the NFL lead in penalties this season, with seven (teammate Everson Griffen is another). The cornerback's flags have cost the Vikings 65 yards, which is the fourth-highest number of penalty yards for one player this season.
