Todd Gurley scores first NFL touchdown

ST. LOUIS -- After lamenting the fact that he had yet to score a touchdown in his first three NFL games, St. Louis Rams rookie running back Todd Gurley finished most of his practice carries this week by running all the way into the end zone in hopes that it would lead to his first NFL score.

Apparently it worked, as Gurley waltzed in from 1 yard out on Sunday afternoon against the Cleveland Browns. The touchdown gave the Rams a 17-6 lead with 2:14 left in the third quarter.

Upon reaching the end zone, Gurley held up his arms and spiked the ball with his left hand in celebration. It was Gurley's first touchdown of any sort since Nov. 15, 2014, when he scored for the Georgia Bulldogs against Auburn.

After posting 305 rushing yards in his previous two games against Green Bay and Arizona, Gurley expressed disappointment in his inability to score a touchdown despite the big numbers.

"It’s definitely frustrating not going all the way," Gurley said. "It’s something I have got to practice at. The running backs get on me a lot. You’ve got to just keep practicing."
