Manziel, who made his second start of the season, was solid in the first half, going 11-of-18 for 128 yards with one touchdown and no interceptions. Cleveland trailed 14-10 at the half.
Manziel and the Browns, however, struggled in the second half as the Bengals' lead grew. After halftime, he was just 4-of-15 for 40 yards, and he took three sacks. His receivers didn't help him much either, dropping a few passes.
Here's a look at what people on Twitter thought of Manziel's performance, in sequential order:
Impressed Johnny Manziel isn't wearing plays on wristband. Seems to be commanding huddle— Ed Werder (@Edwerderespn) November 6, 2015
Manziel just camped out calmly in the pocket for a full 6 seconds! Very good sign.— Brian Billick (@CoachBillick) November 6, 2015
Manziel still needs a ton of work, but I'd be in favor of letting him learn on the field.— Doug Farrar (@SI_DougFarrar) November 6, 2015
TOUCHDOWN BROWNS! Johnny Manziel leads Browns on their longest drive of season (10 plays, 92 yds) & fires a dart to Duke Johnson for the TD.— SportsCenter (@SportsCenter) November 6, 2015
By far this has been the best Johnny Manziel has looked as a Brown. He made the Bengals pay for letting him out... https://t.co/wOYrieQQIv— PatMcManamon (@PatMcManamon) November 6, 2015
Johnny Manziel: 6-of-11 for 91 yards and a touchdown when under duress in the first half. 11 of his 18 pass attempts have come under duress.— ESPN Stats & Info (@ESPNStatsInfo) November 6, 2015
Another good ball from Manziel ... Not getting a ton of help. Playing well.— Albert Breer (@AlbertBreer) November 6, 2015
Johnny Manziel has shown some promise tonight, but daggone if he doesn't take off every time his first read is covered.— Kevin Seifert (@SeifertESPN) November 6, 2015
1st half was enough to be encouraged by Manziel. 2nd half will be enough for Pettine to go back to McCown. Back to square one.— Dawgs By Nature (@DawgsByNature) November 6, 2015
No surprise Manziel often struggled. Has NFL's worst weapons around him. Awful organization. Needs to clean up act, go elsewhere.— Skip Bayless (@RealSkipBayless) November 6, 2015
