Ben Roethlisberger limited in practice

Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger returned to practice on a limited basis, according to the team's injury report.

He has missed the past two games with rib and shoulder injuries. Coach Mike Tomlin said the team is proceeding this week with Charlie Batch as their starter unless Roethlisberger's status changes.

Two starters who have missed time recently -- safety Troy Polamalu (calf) and wide receiver Antonio Brown (ankle) -- both had full practices Wednesday.

Left tackle Max Starks (back), linebacker LaMarr Woodley (ankle), left guard Willie Colon (knee) and right tackle Mike Adams (ankle) all didn't practice.

For the Ravens, wide receiver Torrey Smith (thigh), linebacker Dannell Ellerbe (ankle, knee and finger), receiver-returner Jacoby Jones (ankle), tight end Ed Dickson (knee) and cornerback Corey Graham (illness) all didn't practice.
