The NFL draft is just one day away, which means nuggets of information will be flying all over the place for the next 24 hours.

The latest comes from ESPN's Sal Paolantonio, who reports the New York Jets and Buffalo Bills are both considering former Syracuse quarterback Ryan Nassib in the first round. Buffalo has the No. 8 overall pick and the Jets hold the Nos. 9 and 13 selections.

"The Jets control the wheelhouse on Day 1, and a guy they love at the quarterback position ... is Ryan Nassib of Syracuse," Paolantonio said on ESPN's "SportsCenter." "I'm told new offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg loves Nassib, his quick decision-making and ability to run the West Coast offense."

Would the Jets take Nassib at No. 9 or No. 13? Just a few weeks ago, Nassib was considered a second-round pick. But the quarterback's stock is on the rise after workouts and interviews, and some project him to be the first quarterback off the board ahead of West Virginia's Geno Smith. It's no secret Buffalo has significant interest due to the connection with new Bills head coach Doug Marrone, who coached Nassib at Syracuse. ESPN’s Todd McShay’s latest mock draft has Buffalo taking Nassib at No. 8.

But this also could be a smokescreen by the Jets.

Perhaps New York wants it out there that it will take Nassib if Buffalo doesn’t, regardless of whether it's true. That could force Buffalo's hand to take Nassib at No. 8 instead of trying to wait until the second round. The Bills do not want to miss on Nassib, but Marrone definitely wouldn't like facing his college quarterback twice a year in the division for the foreseeable future.

I've warned several times in the AFC East blog that you can't believe half the things teams say this time of year. Nassib is suddenly one of the hottest prospects in this week's draft, and New York could be playing mind games with a division rival via its reported interest in Nassib.
