Browns rookie defensive end Armonty Bryant apparently hasn't learned his lesson from a previous altercation with authorities. He was arrested and charged with driving under the influence Friday morning in Ada, Okla., according to the Ada News.
This comes six days after he was drafted in the seventh round by the Browns. Even more disturbing is the fact that he was arrested eight months ago for selling $20 of marijuana twice to an undercover officer.
“Now that I’ve gotten that second chance, I feel like I won’t let anyone down," Bryant told Browns reporters after he was drafted. "I won’t let myself, the people around me or the Cleveland Browns down. I appreciate them for taking this chance on me.”
Whether he gets a third chance remains to be seen. The Browns hold rookie minicamp on Friday, and it's unknown whether Bryant will attend. Bryant hasn't signed a contract, so the team hasn't invested anything in him.
The Browns only drafted five players this year because they traded two picks for future ones. Now, there's a chance that they could be down to four.
This extends a troublesome offseason for the Browns. It began with the federal investigation into the family-run business of Browns owner Jimmy Haslam. Then, late last month, Browns linebacker Quentin Groves was arrested for solicitation.
