On stage ... Stanford

Quick hits from Pac-12 media day in Los Angeles.

Stanford: David Shaw and QB Andrew Luck.

  • Shaw on similarities with Jim Harbaugh: "We're all about competition." Admitted personalities are different. That's a big yes.

  • Luck: Yes, this will be his last college season.

  • Luck on beard: "When I get annoyed with it, I will shave it."

  • Shaw on co-defensive coordinators Derek Mason and Jason Tarver: "Like an old married couple who finish each other's sentences."

  • Shaw on talk of how Harbaugh gave Stanford an edge: "My job is to maintain competitive spirit." Said "When someone crosses the line, they know I'll be nose-to-nose with them."

  • Shaw on WR Chris Owusu: "We need Chris Owusu to play in every game."

  • As for young wide receivers, "I don't know who will step up." Says if wide receivers don't step up, they'll throw more to tight ends.

  • Shaw said OC Pep Hamilton will coach quarterbacks and wideouts. Shaw will help out.

  • Luck: "No regrets" on coming back.

  • Luck on Shaw's role in his development: "He's been huge."
