Lupoi was limited for secondary violation

Bob Condotta of the Seattle Times is reporting that Washington's Tosh Lupoi was "limited" in his recruiting during the spring evaluation period because of a self-reported, secondary violation.

Writes Condotta:

The school said the violation occurred when Lupoi "publicized the visit of a prospective student-athlete who ultimately did not commit to UW by confirming information about the recruit to members of the Dawg Pack student section at a men's basketball game.''

No other details about the violation were disclosed.

Lupoi, one of the top recruiters in the nation was named defensive line coach and defensive run- game coordinator in January, leaving Cal and a lot of bitter Bears fans in his wake.

A Washington spokesman said secondary violations are very common, noting that in general most schools self report anywhere between 10-15 secondary violations each year.

It's unlikely any action, other than Lupoi being limited during the April 15-May 31 evaluation period, will come from this.
