Top performances 2012: Kenjon Barner

We're looking at some of the top individual performances in the Pac-12 in 2012.

Up next: Welcome home, Barner.

Who & against whom: Oregon running back Kenjon Barner, who hails from Riverside, returned to Southern California and blew up against USC in a high-scoring affair, 62-51, at the Los Angeles Coliseum.

The numbers: Barner carried 38 times for a whopping 321 yards and five touchdowns. He also caught two balls for 26 yards.

A closer look: Once billed as the Pac-12 game of the year between the predicted division winners (no, we're never going to live this down so we might as well embrace it), the game still managed to live up to the hype -- even if the stakes weren't as high as previously thought. The teams combined for 1,345 yards of total offense and 113 points. Barner provided 30 of Oregon's. He rushed for a pair of touchdowns in the second quarter, one in the third and two more in the fourth. All along the way he gutted the Trojans' defense to the tune of 8.4 yards per carry. He had 11 rushes of 10 or more yards and he gained the bulk of his yards before contact (273) so give a little love to his offensive line as well. The 321 yards were a school record and it overshadowed Marcus Mariota's four touchdown passes. The Ducks totaled 730 yards and 62 points -- the most ever allowed by USC.
