ASU QB Mike Bercovici talks about playing catch with his girlfriend

BURBANK, Calif. -- Arizona State quarterback Mike Bercovici and girlfriend Jaylee Merrill, a Sun Devils dancer, became Internet celebrities last week when a video appeared of the two working on routes.

So, yeah, life is different.

"Oh, man," Bercovici said as he sat for reporters at Pac-12 media days. "I figured this question would come up."

Bercovici admitted that it took three takes to make a completion on video, but the connection certainly caused a stir on social media and perhaps earned the pair new fans. The video was retweeted off Bercovici's Twitter page -- 9,252 followers -- 117 times, and Merrill's Instagram post produced more than 1,000 likes.

"Coach [Todd] Graham loves her -- she comes to practice all the time," Bercovici said. "She watches film with me. She throws routes with me on her off days. She's a great girl. She likes the attention."

As far as feedback from real, live people, Bercovici said it has been positive enough that he's envisioning a sequel.

"People said she ran some pretty good routes," Bercovici said. "Maybe we'll have to make a Volume 2."
