During the last couple of days, we’ve looked at how teams in the Pac-12 North and South were able to generate points from turnovers.
But it cuts both ways. Just as an offense must be efficient when the defense gets the ball back, a defense must be vigilant not to let an offensive turnover sway the game. Obviously, some teams were better than others.
The following stats reflect how a team responded (or didn’t) after its offense coughed up the ball. This does include interceptions for returns and scoop-and-scores, so it’s not always all on the defense. But it should provide a decent gauge for how teams were able to stiffen up when a sudden change in momentum occurred. Special-teams blocks and turnovers on downs are not included.
We looked at the North on Thursday and today we’ll examine the South. If you want to compare how your team did from last year to this year, here are last season’s numbers.
