PHILADELPHIA – Emmanuel Acho knows his way around an NFL defense. It turns out the former Philadelphia Eagles linebacker also knows his way around a keyboard.
Acho, who is a free agent after parts of three seasons with the Eagles, posted a Youtube video this week. In it, he plays an electronic keyboard and sings a self-composed lament about still being a free agent as March turns to April:
“My phone’s not ringing, is my service fine?” Acho croons. “I just checked Twitter, another linebacker signed.”
Acho played primarily on special teams in two stints with the Eagles. He was released in November by former head coach Chip Kelly. That meant he wasn’t on the roster when new coach Doug Pederson and defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz evaluated the players they inherited.
The Eagles released linebacker DeMeco Ryans and traded linebacker Kiko Alonso to Miami. They signed Nigel Bradham, who played linebacker for Schwartz with the Buffalo Bills. They also re-signed free agent linebacker Najee Goode.
Acho’s song suggests he is open to signing with a new team.
“Maybe Houston or the Colts,” Acho sings. “If only I was as fast as Usain Bolt.”
