Ben Roethlisberger buys luxury watches for Steelers offensive linemen

PITTSBURGH -- It's good to be an offensive lineman in Pittsburgh.

For the holidays, the Pittsburgh Steelers' line received individual platinum series watches from Swiss manufacturer Omega, courtesy of quarterback Ben Roethlisberger.

Right tackle Marcus Gilbert called his silver watch "sick."

"It's a great Christmas, especially for me, getting that luxury watch from Big Ben," Gilbert said. "We take care of him and he's always done a good job taking care of his line. That's why we like to go to battle for him every week."

Roethlisberger has taken 20 sacks in 11 games, or 1.8 per game, one of the lowest ratios of his career. The Steelers are in the top five in passing and top 10 in rushing.

That wasn't the only watch passed around in the Steelers' locker room. Defensive end Cameron Heyward, known as one of the team's most generous players, got the entire team Apple watches, Gilbert said.

Running back DeAngelo Williams, who is 101 yards from 1,000, constantly takes care of the line with free meals and gift cards.

"What he's done is remarkable," Gilbert said. "We've been aiming for (1,000) ever since [he] got the starting role."
