# Social media predicts Super Bowl XLVII

Sunday’s Super Bowl is expected to be a close game, but that’s not the only thing that's close between the two teams: The San Francisco 49ers and Baltimore Ravens are also neck and neck in social-media conversation.

Fizziology -- a company that which monitors Twitter, Facebook and blogs to analyze the sentiments of social-media users -- dissected football conversations by region on Twitter to determine which areas of the country are rooting for whom.

The tweet-gathering started the day after the playoffs and lasted until a week before the Super Bowl.

The results? It depends on where you look.

In the Midwest and Northeast, it’s looking like a close game. Once you head south, however, 18 percent more are convinced the Ravens will win, while out West, 10 percent more are banking on the 49ers.

Here’s how the numbers skew (click on the picture for a better view):

51: Percentage of people, nationwide, that think the Ravens will win.

On the 49ers side, 81 percent of fans are convinced their team will win, while 19 percent think the Lombardi trophy will go to the Ravens.

Beyond die-hard Ravens fans rooting for their team, there is another fan base rooting for the Ravens that might surprise you. Fizziology uncovered that Steelers fans, despite being division rivals, are rooting for the Ravens because they don’t want the 49ers to tie their record of six Super Bowl wins.

As for those on the ground in the Big Easy: 67% of fans in the Super Bowl host city are predicting it will be a Purple Reign come Sunday.
