San Francisco 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh was asked Friday if he had a comment on last weekend’s report that the team was close to trading outside linebacker Ahmad Brooks to the Cleveland Browns before the trade deadline.
“No, no, I don’t have any comment on that,” Harbaugh said. “As always, no comment on those things. It would be second-hand, and I don’t have the specific knowledge.”
It would mark the second time this calendar year the Niners were linked to the Browns in trade talks, as Harbaugh was reportedly the target before.
Now, many observers claim, Brooks has become somewhat expendable with the emergence of rookie Aaron Lynch and Aldon Smith returning from his nine-game suspension on Monday. Brooks is tied with Justin Smith for the team lead in sacks with three.
