49ers announce re-signing of long snapper Kyle Nelson

As of 6 p.m. PT Tuesday, the lone move the San Francisco 49ers announced on the day was the re-signing of long snapper Kyle Nelson to a four-year contract.

Nelson, 28, was a restricted free agent.

His signing, along with that of fellow restricted free-agent tight end Garrett Celek, was reported four days earlier by ESPN NFL Insider Adam Caplan.

The 6-foot-2, 240-pound Nelson, who also played tight end in the preseason and had five catches for 15 yards and a pair of touchdowns in the Niners’ 40-13 exhibition finale victory over the Houston Texans, beat Kevin McDermott out in training camp for the long snapping gig. Nelson, 28, had four special-teams tackles on the season.
