For the first time in franchise history, the San Francisco 49ers have unveiled alternate uniforms, and fans, at least the ones on Twitter, do not seem overly impressed.
The unis resemble quarterback Colin Kaepernick's non-contact practice jersey, black with a red number. Here is the picture the team tweeted out:

Yes, it is a far cry from the classic red and gold look with which the team won five Super Bowls, and they more closely resemble the Atlanta Falcons of the early 1990s or something the Arizona Cardinals might have come up with to sell jerseys.
This is no fever dream, though, as the current players designed the new scheme, the only hint of gold remaining in the helmet.
