In an Insider piece, Pro Football Focus lists San Francisco 49ers' linebacker NaVorro Bowman as one of the NFL's better players in December.
Actually, Bowman has been playing at a high level all season. He is a force on all aspects of the defense, ranking fifth in the NFL with 124 tackles.
Tuesday, San Francisco coach Jim Harbaugh told San Francisco radio station KNBR that Bowman should get consideration for the NFL Defensive Player of the year. He said this Monday when asked at his press conference: “Well, he sure has been playing at a very high level. Consistently great week in and week out. You could even say the last four or five ballgames, I mean, he's elevated that play to the last five, six, seven games he's just been outstanding, and deserves to be mentioned in that kind of company.”
I doubt the inside linebacker gets much national support for the award, but I can see him being honored as All-Pro for the seconds straight season. Earlier this month, I named Bowman as my team MVP for the season thus far.
