The Seattle Seahawks didn't even play a game over the weekend, but their odds to make the playoffs improved significantly.
According to Football Outsiders, Seattle has a 44 percent chance of making the playoffs going into its Week 10 matchup with the Arizona Cardinals. That's up 10.2 percent from the previous week. One of the reasons why is that the St. Louis Rams lost Sunday, dropping their playoff chances 17.6 percent to 29.9 percent.
ESPN's Football Power Index lists the Seahawks' odds of winning the NFC West at 11 percent. With a win Sunday, those odds would go up to 21 percent. But with a loss, they would plummet to 2 percent. There's still a lot of football to be played, but the matchup against the Cardinals is huge for the Seahawks if they want to take the division.
In terms of Super Bowl odds, the Seahawks are still at 12 to 1, according to the Westgate Las Vegas SuperBook. The New England Patriots (9 to 5), Green Bay Packers (6 to 1), Denver Broncos (8 to 1), Cincinnati Bengals (8 to 1), Carolina Panthers (8 to 1) and Cardinals (10 to 1) all have better Super Bowl odds. As for this weekend, the Seahawks are three-point favorites.
The Seahawks rank seventh in ESPN.com's power rankings:
"The Seahawks have scored only five touchdowns on 17 red zone trips this season, the worst red zone efficiency in the NFL. Jimmy Graham has one touchdown on three red zone receptions."
ESPN's Football Power Index has the Seahawks fifth. And Football Outsiders' DVOA rankings have Seattle ninth.
In terms of schedule strength, Football Outsiders ranks the Seahawks' slate through eight games 25th in terms of difficulty. Their remaining schedule ranks 14th.
