300-pound DT Nkemdiche catches TD, blocks kick

No one expected Robert Nkemdiche to have a quiet junior season, but few expected his play to speak this loudly, this soon.

The Ole Miss defensive tackle seized the chance to showcase his athleticism in the Rebels' season opener against UT-Martin in two fairly unexpected ways.

First, the freshman All-American threw it back to his days as a high school running back by snagging a catch out of the backfield on a play-action pass and rumbling 31 yards to the end zone.

He definitely does not run like a man listed at 296 pounds.

And why stop there? In the second quarter, Nkemdiche blocked a 23-yard field goal to keep the Skyhawks off the scoreboard.

Sure, UT-Martin is an FCS sacrifice, but Ole Miss' 41-0 halftime lead is impressive against any college opponent.
