The arrests on his team mounting, Georgia coach Mark Richt suspended sophomore running back Washaun Ealey for at least a game following Ealey's arrest early Friday morning on charges of hit and run and driving on a suspended license.
Richt said Ealey definitely wouldn't play in the Bulldogs' Sept. 4 opener against Louisiana-Lafayette and left the door open for Ealey to be suspended in additional games. Georgia travels to South Carolina the second week of the season.
Ealey is the eighth Georgia player to be arrested this year.
Richt, though, said this is a resilient team that won't allow a few players to spoil what has been a successful buildup to the season.
"I guarantee the guys that are out there that show up will play their tails off," Richt said. "There's a whole bunch of them that are doing everything right and are preparing for a tremendous opportunity."
