As ESPN.com colleague Todd McShay points out, it's never too early for a mock draft.
Based on what he's seen this season, McShay takes an early stab at how the 2011 draft might shake out and has 12 SEC players in his first round. This past year, the SEC had seven first-round selections.
McShay has three SEC players among the top 10 picks including Alabama defensive end Marcell Dareus going No. 2 overall to the Carolina Panthers, LSU cornerback Patrick Peterson going No. 4 overall to the San Francisco 49ers and Georgia receiver A.J. Green going No. 10 overall to the Cleveland Browns. All three are juniors.
Here's where McShay has the remainder of the SEC players going in his first round:
No. 12 Jacksonville Jaguars -- Arkansas quarterback Ryan Mallett
No. 15 Washington Redskins -- Florida cornerback Janoris Jenkins
No. 17 Miami Dolphins -- Alabama running back Mark Ingram
No. 23 Philadelphia Eagles -- Mississippi State offensive tackle Derek Sherrod
No. 24 Indianapolis Colts -- Auburn defensive tackle Nick Fairley
No. 26 New Orleans Saints -- LSU defensive tackle Drake Nevis
No. 27 New York Giants -- Arkansas offensive tackle DeMarcus Love
No. 29 New York Jets -- Alabama receiver Julio Jones
No. 32 Pittsburgh Steelers -- Florida center/guard Mike Pouncey
