Vanderbilt hasn't wasted any time targeting its top choice to replace Robbie Caldwell.
The Commodores have already made inquiries concerning Auburn offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn, and he's the guy at the top of their list.
Malzahn had a couple of head-coaching nibbles last year and said prior to this season that he would certainly like to be a head coach, but that he would also not jump at just anything that was out there.
It makes sense that Vanderbilt would go after Malzahn, who's been an offensive wiz everywhere he's been. In his second season as Auburn's offensive coordinator, the Tigers are averaging 42.8 points and 505.2 yards per game, ranking in the top 10 nationally in both categories.
Vanderbilt, on the other hand, has perennially struggled offensively.
