A radio station in Phoenix is reporting that Arizona Cardinals defensive backs coach Teryl Austin has agreed to become the defensive coordinator at Florida.
A source with the Cardinals also told Ivan Maisel of ESPN.com that Austin is headed to Florida. However, Florida officials said Thursday that nothing was official. Austin interviewed for the job in Gainesville on Wednesday.
Florida had also contacted Clemson defensive backs coach Charlie Harbison about the job on Wednesday, but Harbison has reportedly withdrawn his name from consideration.
The Gators are looking for a replacement for George Edwards, who left earlier this month to become the Buffalo Bills' defensive coordinator after less than a month on the Florida staff.
