RAHEEM MORRIS STILL INSISTS BUCS ARE BEST IN NFC:
Even after it was pointed out that the Bucs rank 23rd in the league in total offense and 22nd in the league in total defense (including 31st in the league against the run), Morris refused to alter his claim. "Stats are for losers, so you keep looking at stats and we'll keep looking at wins," Morris said a day after Tampa Bay improved to 4-2 with an 18-17 win over the Rams at Raymond James Stadium. I mean, you are what your record says you are in this league, and right now we're tied for the fewest losses (in the National Football Conference), so that makes us the best team."
SOURCES: NFL BELIEVES IT CAN COMPLETE INVESTIGATION INTO FAVRE THIS WEEK:
According to ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter, the NFL believes it can complete its investigation of quarterback Brett Favre and the racy text messages he allegedly sent to Jenn Sterger this week, according to league sources. It's also possible that, unless Sterger agrees to speak to the NFL, which she has shown no inclination to do, the investigation already would be complete. The league nearly closed the investigation last week but left it open in the event that Sterger would agree to step forward and share her story with the NFL.
MATT BARKLEY TWEET TWEAKS OREGON:
USC was off last weekend because of an open date, but the Trojans' sophomore quarterback created a social-network stir with a post on his Twitter feed in the aftermath of Cain Velasquez's victory over Brock Lesnar in the Ultimate Fighting Championship heavyweight title fight Saturday. Barkley, leader of the team preparing for a game this week against top-ranked Oregon, tweeted: "Wow, Brock just got rocked! Lesnar is to Oregon as Velasquez is to SC. Lezgo." The post was deleted shortly thereafter, but not before it was re-tweeted, riling Oregon fans and, presumably, Oregon players. USC is a seven-point underdog against the unbeaten Ducks.
