Here lies one clairvoyant cephalopod.
Today is, indeed, a sad day for cephalopods — Paul the Octopus, the sea creature who correctly predicted eight World Cup matches (including the finals!) died in his aquarium tank in Oberhausen, Germany this morning. Paul was 2 1/2 years old, which is old for an octopus (so wikipedia tells us), and died of natural causes.
Reps from the aquarium say they may decide to give Paul a burial plot within the aquarium grounds and "erect a modest permanent shrine" to the mollusk. If they do decide to go the memorial route, we hope they consider our suggestion (see above). RIP, Paul. You will be missed.
