Stanford recruiting roundup

A look at what happened over the past week in the world of Stanford recruiting:

  • Of the 45 players remaining on the ESPNU 150 list, Stanford is still in the mix for at least five of the players who have not committed. Stanford has commitments from two players on the most recent ESPNU 150 index: Noor Davis (No. 17) and Alex Carter (No. 113).

  • Looking at the 45 players on that list who have not committed, the Cardinal are still in the conversation for three offensive linemen -- Andrus Peat (No. 16), Kyle Murphy (No. 26) and Josh Garnett No. 42. They are also still getting consideration from defensive end Ifeadi Odenigbo (No. 50) and Barry Sanders (No. 78).

  • Stanford checks in at No. 24 nationally in the updated class rankings.

  • Stanford extended a scholarhsip offer to tight end Adam Breneman last week. Breneman, a 6-6, 225-pounder from Camp Hill, Penn., now has 11 offers. He'll graduate in 2013.

"Academics will be a huge part,” Breneman told ESPN.com's Jared Shanker. “I know football will end at some point and I’ll have to get a job and support a family. At Stanford, you’re going to be on a nationally ranked team and get one of the best educations in the world.”

Additional notes on players already committed to Stanford.

  • The aforementioned Alex Carter (Briar Woods, Va.) had a 25-yard pick six in a 45-3 win over Freedom High.
