Pac-12 recruiting roundup

It's been more than a month since we last checked in with a recruiting roundup, and there have been some big names commit -- some who actually have a driver's licence and can get into PG-13 movies without parental supervision.

Here's a look at where each school stands.

ARIZONA

2013 verbal commitments: 23

Spotlight: The Wildcats picked up four-star athlete Samajie Grant (Ontario, Calif.) late in June and he's described as an explosive runner who can play any offensive skill position or work as a cover corner -- should coaches opt to move him to defense. He joins 2012 UA commit Bryan Harper, a teammate from Colony High.

ARIZONA STATE

2013 verbal commitments: 9

Spotlight: Joshua Dobbs (Alpharetta, Ga.) is the No. 6-rated dual-threat quarterback in the country and was drawing offers from every major conference. He had a big move in the latest recruiting rankings, moving from No. 248 to No. 190.

CALIFORNIA

2013 verbal commitments: 9

Spotlight: Offensive tackle Cameron Hunt (Corona, Calf.) will probably have to pack on a few more pounds (6-foot-4, 267) to play tackle at the next level. But there is no denying his ability as a run blocker. Seven other Pac-12 teams offered. Here's some highlights.

COLORADO

2013 verbal commitments: 12

Spotlight: Four-star, dual-threat quarterback Sefo Liufau from Tacoma, Wash., is still tops in this class. Here's some highlights. But with five offensive line commits already, it's clear that if Liufau is the quarterback of the future, the Buffs are doing all they can to find him some protection.

OREGON

2013 verbal commitments: 8

Spotlight: Fun story about kicker/punter commit Matt Wogan. According to ESPN.com's Brandon Oliver, Chip Kelly told Wogan if he could make a 60-yard field goal at the end of Oregon's camp good things would come his way. He nailed it. Wogan reportedly has one of the strongest legs in the country.

ESPN 300 members: 3 (Evan Voeller, OT, West Linn, Ore.)

OREGON STATE

2013 verbal commitments: 4

Spotlight: Since the last recruiting roundup the Beavers have added three more recruits -- all three are wide receivers. Here's a video of Jordan Villamin (6-4, 200) at the Los Angeles NFTC (his one-on-one starts at 1:50) and he's a big dude. He doesn't have the testing results of some of the other big-name guys, but everything about him screams "red zone target." He caught 27 balls for 594 yards and seven touchdowns as a junior.

STANFORD

2013 verbal commitments: 6

Spotlight: Tight end Eric Cotton Jr. might be getting overlooked because he's off the beaten path in Nampa, Idaho., but all reports are that he's a versatile tight end with good size (6-5, 235) which will increase when he gets into a college lifting program. He can catch in traffic and we know that no one loves tight ends more than Stanford coach David Shaw.

ESPN 150 members: 2 (Ryan Burns, QB, Ashburn Va.; Isaac Savaiinaea, ILB, Honolulu, Hi.)

ESPN 300 members: 4 (Doug Randolph, OLB, Woodberry Forest, Va.; Francis Owusu, WR, Westlake Village, Calif.)

UCLA

2013 verbal commitments: 10

Spotlight: Don't be fooled by the three-star rating of UCLA's latest commit, offensive tackle Christian Morris (Memphis, Tenn.). A lot of schools wanted this guy -- including USC, Arkansas, Nebraska and ASU, among many others. He'll only get bigger (6-6. 293) and you can see in his highlights, he drives defenders in the run and locks them up in pass protection.

USC

2013 verbal commitments: 18

Spotlight: Like most of USC's commits, Eddie Vanderdoes' offer sheet reads like a who's who of college football powerhouses. The size is there (6-3, 303) and his SPARQ Rating is tops. He's the fifth-rated defensive tackle in the nation and along with Kenny Bigelow and Su'a Cravens helps make up an outstanding defensive class.

ESPN 150 members: 12 (Kenny Bigelow, DT, Elkton Md.; Su'a Cravens, S, Murrieta, Calif.; Max Browne, QB, Sammamish Wash.; Eddie Vanderdoes, DT, Auburn, Calif.; Max Redfield, Ath., Mission Viejo, Calif.; Michael Hutchings, OLB, Concord, Calif.; Jalen Ramsey, CB, Brentwood Tenn.; Ty Isaac, RB, Joliet, Il.; Chris Hawkins, CB, Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.; Kylie Fitts, DE, Redlands, Calif.; Steven Mitchell, WR, Mission Hills, Calif.; Sebastian LaRue, WR, Santa Monica, Calif.)

ESPN 300 members: 17 (Eldridge Massington, WR, Mesquite Texas; Justin Davis, RB, Stockton, Calif.; Nico Falah, OT, Bellflower, Calif.; Torrodney Prevot, DE, Houston, Texas; Jason Hatcher, DE, Louisville, Ky.)

UTAH

2013 verbal commitments: 11

Spotlight: BYU wanted Sam Tevi. It looks like Utah is going to get him. That's a win already. The defensive tackle from Euless, Texas, ranks 39th at his position nationally. Has good height for the position and will likely add to his 6-5, 265-pound frame. The ESPN scouting report lists him as a technically sound defensive lineman who despite his height, fires low, can be a productive pass-rusher and is particularly strong against the run.

WASHINGTON

2013 verbal commitments: 17

Spotlight: While Washington's top three recruits check in on the offensive side of the ball, defensive tackle Elijah Qualls is a phenomenal athlete. At 6-1, 282 pounds, he also doubles as Casa Grande High's running back! According to ESPN.com, he's actually more polished as a running back -- though his skill set projects better as a defensive player. Hey, it worked out well for running back-turned-defensive end Jerry Hughes.

ESPN 150 members: 2 (Damore'ea Stringfellow, WR, Morena Valley, Calif.; Darrell Daniels, WR, Oakley, Calif.)

ESPN 300 members: 4 (Troy Williams, QB, Harbor City, Calif.; Elijah Qualls, DT, Petaluma, Calif.)

WASHINGTON STATE

2013 verbal commitments: 12

Spotlight: The Cougars may have locked up their quarterback of the future with Tyler Bruggman, but now they are also working on getting him some weapons -- or at least some more protection. Cole Madison, the No. 26th-ranked tight end, projects to do both. Some scouts have the 6-6, 260-pounder from Burien, Wash., adding more weight and moving inside on to the line. Others say he's just a bulky, blocking tight end who is tough to bring down when he does get the ball. Either way, he's an intriguing prospect.
