Michael Koenen among 14 players cut by Bucs

Most significant move: The release of punter Michael Koenen signals a changing of the guard at punter, as the Bucs trimmed their roster to 75 players. Koenen finished last in the league in punting last year, and the Bucs clearly needed to upgrade at the position. Money also played a role in the move, because Koenen was scheduled to make $3.25 million this year. The Bucs now will go with Jake Schum as their punter.

Practice-squad material?: The Bucs took a shot on Joey Iosefa in the seventh round, thinking the former college running back could make the transition to fullback. But Iosefa was unable to overtake incumbent Jorvorskie Lane. That doesn’t mean the Bucs have seen the last of Iosefa. He could come back on the practice squad, where he would be given more time to learn to play fullback.

Buccaneers' moves: Released P Michael Koenen. Waived RB Dominique Brown, DT Quayshawne Buckley, OL Antoine Everett, LS Brandon Harston, FB Joey Iosefa, S Kimario McFadden, P Karl Schmitz, CB Al-Hajj Shabazz, DE George Uko, DE Jamal Young, C Josh Allen, WR Robert Herron and CB Leonard Johnson. The Bucs also placed DT Akeem Spence on the physically unable to perform list, meaning he will be eligible to return in six weeks.
