TAMPA, Fla. -- The pick: Austin Seferian-Jenkins, tight end, Washington
My take: The Tampa Bay Buccaneers addressed a very underrated need here. They have a bunch of mediocre tight ends and needed someone more prolific. Seferian-Jenkins can be that guy. He's a huge target at 6-foot-5 and 262 pounds. Combine him with receivers Vincent Jackson (6-5) and Mike Evans (6-4) and Tampa's receiving corps could make for a matchup nightmare for opposing defenses. Seferian-Jenkins is big enough to help as a blocker but athletic enough to be a pass-catching threat.
The hoops team gets even better: Evans, the first-round pick, was a big-time high school basketball player. So was Seferian-Jenkins, who also played basketball at Washington.
What’s next: The Bucs still have a major need at guard. They don't have a capable starter at right guard, and there are health concerns about left guard Carl Nicks. Tampa Bay needs to do something to solidify the offensive line.
