TAMPA, Fla. – Buccaneers defensive lineman Da'Quan Bowers could make his season debut Sunday against St. Louis.
Bowers said Tuesday that he’s optimistic he’ll be able to play after missing nearly a month with a groin injury.
“I’ll practice and see how it feels,’’ Bowers said. “Hopefully, there are no setbacks. If I can get some quality work in this week, we’ll see what happens.’’
Getting Bowers back could be a nice boost for Tampa Bay’s defensive line. Bowers has spent his career at defensive end and still could see some action there. But, prior to the injury, the Bucs had been experimenting with Bowers as a defensive tackle. He could be used as a rotational player to try to keep All-Pro Gerald McCoy fresh.
