TAMPA, Fla. -- Many believe it’s a foregone conclusion that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers will use the first overall pick in the draft on Florida State quarterback Jameis Winston.
But the Bucs are still doing their homework on at least one other alternative. Oregon quarterback Marcus Mariota will have his pro day Thursday. Tampa Bay general manager Jason Licht is expected to be in attendance.
That’s a pretty strong sign the Bucs still are considering Mariota. Licht wouldn’t be flying across the country during the early stages of free agency if the Bucs weren’t serious in their interest in Mariota.
