Tampa Bay Buccaneers mailbag

TAMPA, Fla. – For the first time in months, I looked in the Twitter mailbag and didn’t see a single question about Jameis Winston.

I guess the hysteria is quieting down. But there were plenty of other topics on your minds. Let’s take a look.

@PatYazESPN: The Bucs have made it clear they want to lock up Lavonte David for the long term. I wouldn't be at all surprised if something happens between now and the start of training camp. It's going to be expensive (probably around $8 million per season). But the Bucs have plenty of salary-cap room to work with and they want to keep one of the best young linebackers in the game.

@PatYazESPN: There are reasons why those guys are available. They all are on the downside of their careers. The Bucs are committed to building their offensive line through the draft. They picked tackle Donovan Smith and guard Ali Marpet in the second round this year. They also drafted Kevin Pamphile and Kadeem Edwards last year. The Bucs are confident a couple of those young players will step up.

@PatYazESPN: Adrian Clayborn is not a bad player when he's healthy and he could do well in Atlanta. But his time in Tampa Bay was up. He simply didn't fit what the current coaching staff looks for in defensive ends. Clayborn is heavier and perhaps not quite as quick as the Bucs like their defensive ends to be.
