Titans GM Jon Robinson: CB Antwon Blake can win an outside spot

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- New Tennessee Titans defensive back Antwon Blake may be coming off a poor season with the Pittsburgh Steelers, but reconnected with Dick LeBeau in the Titans' defense, general manager Jon Robinson thinks Blake can contend for a starting spot in Tennessee's secondary.

"I think he's primarily an outside corner," Robinson said before 104.5 The Zone's annual SportsFest, where he was talking to fans. "He's tough, he's physical, he's fast. He will be an impact player for us, we think, in the kicking game. And then compete for an outside spot."

Why was Blake's play impacted for the Steelers last season?

"I think his technique suffered a bit at times when I saw it," Robinson said. "He'd lose track of the ball. He would get a little bit too antsy at the top of the route. I think if he can just kind of calm down and learn to play the technique, we think he'll be just fine."

The Titans have Jason McCourty and Perrish Cox as their top two cornerbacks, with Blidi Wreh-Wilson third in line outside. Cox might be best in the slot, where new addition Brice McCain plays best.
