Redskins wake-up call

ASHBURN, Va. – The Washington Redskins practice at 11:10 a.m ET Friday, with an open locker room session immediately afterward. Three areas of interest Friday:

  1. My prediction for the Redskins home opener against the Jacksonville Jaguars will be posted at 1 p.m. One thing I’ll say: The Eagles left a lot of points on the field Sunday. A lot. But can the Redskins take advantage? I think play-action will be a big key as will be testing a secondary that had some communication issues last week.

  2. There’s no mystery surrounding tight end Jordan Reed and defensive lineman Kedric Golston. Coach Jay Gruden said both likely were doubtful for Sunday. And Tracy Porter already is out. But the question Friday surrounds kicker Kai Forbath, who was listed as limited in practice for an undisclosed issue. That’s a new one. It would be good, too, to find out from Duke Ihenacho how comfortable he now feels in the defense after being here two weeks. Also, offensive coordinator Sean McVay talks to the media on Friday.

  3. After watching the Jaguars against the Eagles, I picked up a couple things -- and ran some stuff by the players. They’re sort of good resources to have. I’ll share three things I learned in a post later Friday morning. I’ll also post Part 1 of the Redskins mailbag. Over the weekend, Part 2 will run as well as my Getting to Know series and, on Sunday morning, game notes and analysis. Now you know.
