Washington Redskins wake-up call

The Washington Redskins return, once again, for a full workday -- an 11:15 open locker room media session followed by a 1 p.m. practice. Here are three areas of interest:

  1. Kirk Cousins. He will address the media Thursday and there obviously will be a few topics of discussion, starting with how he rebounds from an awful game. Cousins understands that it was just one game -- even if others might view it as more. But he also likely will get a lot of questions about turning the ball over -- and I want to also know about his lack of success on third downs, something that dates to last season as well.

  2. Injury updates. Not only for tight end Jordan Reed, but also left tackle Trent Williams and tight end Niles Paul among others. My guess is that with Reed and Paul, we won’t know for a few more days about what to expect. Williams seems rather confident that he’ll play and seeing what he’s played with in the past, I’d be surprised if he sat.

  3. I plan to take a look at some of the breakdowns that happened against New York -- why they occurred and how they can be corrected. Also, I checked in on players the Redskins cut this summer to see who went where. Teams always say if they have good depth then players they cut will be attractive to other teams. The Redskins didn’t cut a lot of players who ended up elsewhere.
