Brandon Meriweather might miss Rams game

ASHBURN, Va. -- The Redskins have more injuries to deal with in the secondary. Safety Brandon Meriweather might be forced to miss Sunday’s game vs. St. Louis because of a sprained toe.

Coach Jay Gruden said he doesn’t yet know Meriweather’s status, but “it’s not looking good.”

Meriweather injured his toe in the second half of Sunday’s 49-27 loss at Indianapolis. His replacement, Phillip Thomas, gave up one of the long touchdowns -- a 79-yarder to Donte Moncrief -- when he misplayed a basic alignment. But Meriweather contributed to the woes as well, when he failed to fill the hole on a touchdown run by Daniel Herron.

Defensive lineman Kedric Golston suffered a lower-back issue in warmups Sunday and likely won’t play vs. the Rams, Gruden said. Golston also has plantar fasciitis.

Gruden also said he’s not sure yet about receiver DeSean Jackson’s availability for practice this week after he suffered a lower leg contusion against the Colts.

Corner E.J. Biggers (concussion) is expected to return soon. Corner Chase Minnifield will undergo the concussion protocol this week.
