The Washington Redskins had 14 players receive an extra $100,000 or more in the NFL’s performance-based pay system, with Will Compton topping the list. The third-year inside linebacker earned an additional $222,465.82 after starting 10 games -- double his total from the previous two years.

Compton ended up playing 59.96 percent of the defensive snaps.

The extra payments try to reward players whose salaries were disproportionate to their playing time. The money comes from a fund that was created in 2002 and is given to each team.

Compton started first for an injured Perry Riley and then for Keenan Robinson. Three teammates also topped $200,000: safety Kyshoen Jarrett ($209,158.18) and corners Bashaud Breeland ($205,310.97) and Will Blackmon ($203,607.92).

Jarrett and Blackmon’s play reflects their rise from backups to starters, thanks to injury and performance. Breeland’s pay reflects his fourth-round status from when he was drafted in 2014 (so, too, does Jarrett’s; he was a sixth-rounder last spring).

The last player on the list? Kicker Kai Forbath, who received an extra $487.83 after spending just one game with the Redskins this past season:
